My caffeine of choice is chai, specifically a morning Venti chai from Starbucks. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love me some chai first thing in the morning. Starbucks sizes are wel-known: Tall, Grande, Venti. “Venti is Twenty”, a 20 ounce coffee drink. Except when it is not.

Last week, my wife and I had the rare opportunity to go to the movies. In the lost haze of time, before breeding, we used to go to the movies all the time. Nowadays it is a real undertaking, involving babysitting, meal prep, timing, and luck. Takes luck for there to be a decent movie to see.
Hot-Tub Time Machine was last weeks’ choice, and we regretted it. It is not The Hangover. And John Cusack is drifting into tiresome poserhood. Really mediocre.
My lovely bride, perhaps out of fear that my book collection will push us out of our home, bought me a Kindle for Christmas.
In a fit of self-defense, I had added the Kindle to my Amazon Wish List sometime in November. I say self-defense because our local Barnes & Nobles was rather prominently pushing the Nook, and based on reviews I knew I’d rather have the Kindle.
Previously, I discussed multiple series books I read this year, the singletons that passable to awful, or were plain good. Here I’ll go through the books I loved this year, the ones that made me happy I read as much as I do.
These are books I really, really liked and recommend unreservedly. No particular order.
